The Alt-Right Adventure: The Brierbart Quest

In this Series of exclusive articles for Journaling Thoughts, I dive headfirst into the world of the Alt-Right. What they believe and how they go about. In this the first article, I will be taking a look at the Alt-Right’s main platform. Breitbart News.

Oh boy, this is gonna be tough But here goes, Breitbart News is an American News and opinion site with a very far-right tilt. Breitbart was founded by Andrew Breitbart in 2007 but grew massively during the 2016 US election

To Say, Breitbart is right-wing is a massive understatement, Some of the headlines on Breitbart are unbelievable. One headline wrote “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive And Crazy” While Another contained the phrase “Renegade Jew”

Breitbart News has caused outrage over the content, Breitbart is an Alt-Right Publication and has the following beliefs:

  1.  The Alt-Right reject the idea of immigration (both legal and illegal)
  2. The Alt-Right believe in Christianity and are against Judaism and Islam
  3. The Alt-Right are pro-life and believe abortion should be illegal
  4. The Alt-Right don’t tend to support minorities such as LGBT and Native Americans

Breitbart, with the way they have broadcasted their message, is helping towards the normalisation of this ideology and this can have dangerous consequences. As Donald Trump has selected the now ex-chief of Breitbart as his main adviser. The ideologies mentioned could become normal and attacks based on them could be common.

In the next instalment of the Alt-Right Adventure is the Battle For Pepe, the main meme behind the Alt Right.
