Bisexuality awareness day

Today was Bi awareness day, a day dedicated to ensuring that bisexual people are recognised. Even though it has been proven that bisexuality, alongside heterosexuality and homosexuality are officially recognised. there is still a debate around people who are bi.

Bisexuality is defined as when a person is attracted to both sexes, this is not to be confused with pansexuality where a person has no preference. however, some people and I include myself in this, do use the term bisexual as a way of easing the process of coming out.

This does lead to some people saying “oh its a phase” and “are you sure you’re not just gay?”. These sort of views can be quite offensive to people who are bisexual.

The main debate around bisexuality is that it is real? and the answer to the question is yes. Bisexuality is a cornerstone of the LGBT community.  it’s 2016 and even though progress has been made. there is still far to go before the debates go away.

my final word, if someone does say they are bisexual. then take it for face value as if there saying it to you they know they are comfortable with who they are.

until next time

see you around
